Establishment of National Steering Committee on combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing

The Prime Minister has just signed a decision to establish a National Steering Committee on combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (National Steering Committee on combating IUU fishing) head by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.
Accordingly, the National Steering Committee on combating IUU fishing
has the function of advising and assisting the Prime Minister in
directing and coordinating the settlement of important and
interdisciplinary affairs under the authority of the Prime Minister
related to the combating IUU fishing; direct, urge and coordinate
ministries, departments, branches and localities to implement actions
against IUU fishing to meet international practices, conventions and
agreements that Vietnam has signed and joined, in accordance with the
regulations of regional and international fisheries organizations on
combating IUU fishing.
The mission of the National Steering Committee is to advise,
summarize and propose to the Prime Minister tasks, urgent and important
measures, prioritizing the implementation of combating IUU fishing;
propose solutions to problems in the implementation measures against IUU
fishing by ministries, departments, branches and localities beyond
their competence; assisting the Prime Minister in directing, inspecting
and speeding up ministries, departments, branches and localities to
implement documents and directives of the Government and the Prime
Minister on IUU fishing.
