The spread of Japanese food brings opportunities for Vietnamese shrimp industry

The overseas Japanese community has nearly 3
million people in many countries such as Brazil, the United States, the
Philippines...The demand for seafood products of the community is quite
large, in which Vietnamese shrimp is one of the indispensable product.
Japanese
people are very sophisticated in cuisine. The selection and processing
of Japanese's dishes are very thorough, focusing on nutrition and quite
fussy. That makes Japanese products are very easy to eat besides being
very eye-catching. Vietnamese shrimp enterprises have been exporting
shrimp products to Japan and overseas Japanese communities in the United
States, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan ... and, most
recently, the EU market with increasing consumption. The partners said
that Vietnamese shrimp products brought to Japanese restaurant systems
not only attracted Japanese customers but also attracted more and more
native customers. Today Japanese food is becoming even more popular
overseas.
The
Japanese-style processed shrimp products are made in Vietnamese shrimp
companies quite diverse such as nobashi shrimp, ebi fry shrimp, tempura
shrimp, ebi katsu shrimp, pritter shrimp ...
The
US-China trade war is still intact. This is a tremendous opportunity
for Vietnamese shrimp businesses to replace the output of breaded shrimp
from China. Once the businesses has occupied the market, other
opportunities will come. Although breaded shrimp in American style is
not as sophisticated as Japanese style, the basic processing process is
not different.
There
are 3 factors are resonating to form a chance for Vietnamses shrimp
exporters with breaded shrimp is a key product. These factors are the
spread of Japanese cuisine with an increasingly strong trend, the
situation of EVFTA agreement was signed and US-China trade war. Breaded
shrimp is great advantage of Vietnamese shrimp as there has a skilled
labour force compare to other rivals. At the same time, breaded shrimp
is also a good value-added product, high profit margin, contributing to
share in Vietnamese shrimp value chain. Therefore, Vietnamese shrimp
businesses need to set early business planning and early synchronization
solutions to take advantage of these chances.
